About Crystal Haffner
Crystal got her start in events and make-up artistry while earning her degree at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, California. Quickly gaining experience on Rodeo Drive with luxury lines at Barneys and Nieman Marcus, she accepted a position with Christian Dior in Chicago as a traveling make-up artist and event planner for local upscale accounts.
Crystal’s love for event planning then took her to Indianapolis where she helped orchestrate competitive events at professional football stadiums.
An opportunity with Saks Fifth Avenue led Crystal back into make-up full time where she excelled in sales as a consultant and artist for a make-up and skin care line.
After her husband and she had their first son, she founded Beauty by Crystal to focus on serving the unique needs of brides and their leading ladies in wedding make-up artistry and join producers on set to ensure talent to look their absolute best on high definition cameras for video production.
In addition to planting and growing one of Indiana’s most notable make-up artists (and adding three more sons to her family) – Crystal continued planning and executing internal and external corporate events at a growing rate. Even inventing virtual solutions during 2020’s global pandemic.
Crystal is elated at the evolution of Beauty by Crystal into both services she loves as a make up artistry and event planning company.

What are your makeup artistry rates?
My rates vary based on what type of work you are interested in me providing. I pride myself on keeping my rates competitive for personal and commercial work. If I am not available or the right fit, I know lots of other incredible artists I would recommend.
How early should I book you?
As quickly as your event permits. As a frame of reference, most of my wedding and events are booked six to 12 months in advance. Your date will be confirmed once a security deposit has been received. If you are a bride seeking a booking, we’ll set your trial run at least two months prior to your wedding date as well.
Will you travel for my wedding or event?
Absolutely! There is an additional charge for any event outside of Indianapolis. Full day rates will apply to overnight stays along with costs associated with accommodations.
Do you offer airbrush make-up application?
I do. It’s light, long-wearing and gives a lovely flawless look. It’s a valuable technique for several purposes. But some needs and skin types take to other techniques more effectively.
Do you do lashes?
Yes. Love them, especially individuals!
Do you do hair updos too?
I do not. I partner with wonderful wedding and on set hair stylists who do fabulous work! Work with me and I’ll be sure they’re doing beautiful work right alongside the team and me.
Do you sell a make-up line or use specific products?
Several lines have great products. Approaching my kit and client work more agnostically allows me to bring what’s best for you and your occasion.
Where do you do your bridal trial runs?
I go wherever you need me.
What if I just want a make-up lesson?
That’s fantastic! I love teaching. I like the group setting of a master class – which are great for a corporate or private event. And, really appreciate the chance to work one on one with a client and teach her how to bring out her natural beauty for her specific facial shape and skin type.
